Our system

Getting a lawn that is weed free and healthy takes time. If your yard has not been treated at all, it can take up to a year (6 applications) to get it weed free. Following a system based on the seasonal growth of your grass and the unwanted weeds creates healthy, clean yards that are much more enjoyable

February / March

Your grass is still dormant, but weeds are growing under the soil.  Pre-Emergent chemicals work on a cellular level to ensure unwanted plants never pop up.

Late March / April

After the last freeze (depending on Texas weather), your grass wakes up and wants to be green (photosynthesis).  Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium are necessary chemicals for your grass to grow and be healthy.  However, these chemicals are not found in large amounts in our soil.  The first fertilizer treatment adds these elements to help your grass produce energy to be able to grow.

May / June

Because of the heat, watering becomes more essential and grass uses more energy to continue to grow.  A second fertilizer treatment helps replenish nutrients and protect grass from heat stress.  Insects are also more active in the summer.  A consistent application of insecticides helps limit flies, grub worms (that feed on grass root systems), ants, and other 6 legged critters.

July / August

Usually in Texas, we see grass growth slow significantly because of consistent hot days in July and August.  Another fertilizer treatment will give your grass enough nutrients to go dormant instead of die.  Dormant grass (light brown) comes back the next year. Dead grass (gray) will not.

September / October

Grass growth has slowed and parts of your yard are already dormant.  Another round of Pre-Emergent creates a layer in the soil that will deter any cool season weeds from popping up when your grass is not longer in competition.

October / November

We do one final weed control to take out anything that has not gone dormant while your grass has.  If you wait until the weeds go dormant and only the root system remains underground, finding and servicing problem areas becomes a guessing game come spring time.
